  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent.
  2. Stir in garlic and ginger; cook for another minute.
  3. Add cubed beef; brown on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Mix in pureed tomatoes and yogurt; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Add spices (garam masala, turmeric, chili powder, coriander, cumin, cinnamon) and stir well.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for at least 1.5 hours until beef is tender.
