  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pound the chicken breasts to about ½ inch thickness using a meat mallet.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, apple sauce, chopped onion, sesame oil, ginger, brown sugar, crushed garlic, and red pepper flakes (if desired).
  3. Reserve ¼ cup of marinade and pour the rest over the chicken in a Ziploc bag. Seal and marinate in the fridge for at least one hour.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill each piece of chicken for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
