Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in the prepared dish. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  4. While the meatloaf bakes, melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir for about 2 minutes before gradually whisking in beef broth and cream. Cook until thickened.
  6. Once the meatloaf is done baking, let it rest briefly before slicing. Serve topped with mushroom gravy.
