  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple vinegar (or dry apple juice)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, apple vinegar, cornstarch, and optional baking soda. Add flank steak and marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add marinated beef in a single layer; sear for 2–3 minutes without stirring, then stir-fry until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, sauté sliced onions until softened. Add minced garlic and grated ginger; cook until fragrant.
  5. Return beef to the pan along with any remaining marinade. Toss everything together over high heat and season with salt and pepper before serving.
