  • 330 g self raising flour
  • 360 g granulated sugar
  • 360 g butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 30 g unsweetened black cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 90 ml milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 g butter (salted)
  • 800 g powdered sugar (icing sugar)
  • 1¼ tsp vanilla extract (for buttercream)
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream (optional – if the buttercream is too stiff)
  • Electric green food coloring (a few drops)
  • 250 g Orange fondant
  • 200 g Black fondant
  • 1 tbsp CMC powder
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare baking pans by greasing them lightly.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together self-raising flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture, alternating with milk until smooth.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Once cooled, prepare green buttercream by creaming salted butter with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and food coloring.
  7. Assemble cake jars by layering chocolate cake and green buttercream.
